The Stress and Childhood Obesity

Written by on ,

Most adults still have nightmares that they are in class to take the final test they have not studied for. Children and teens sometimes have a reality for many reasons. How do we help them deal with all the stress and childhood obesity are part of the life of our job as parents.

Not Just obesity: All children are at risk for stress and related problems. Being overweight adds to it but it does not mean that a child feels less thinner. There are many reasons for this problem.

What Causes Problems: Some of it is a great event. Death in the family, divorce of parents or parent losing a job is the cause. Children capture the emotional cues from those around them.

There are some things that we might consider small. Forgetting is not the same task with a death in the family but embarrassing and have an impact on value. Even positive events cause stress. Get ready for the prom is interesting but I remember worrying about my dress, my hair and how people will react.

Parental Stress: As mentioned emotions parents have a great impact on children. It does not matter if the issue is not discussed in front of children. Children still know there is a problem. Sometimes (and depending on age) better if the kids really know what happened, especially if the situation is quite small.

How Related: Almost everyone has a set of convenience foods. These foods tend to be the type that add pounds without adding much in the way of food. Children have the same passion and unless there is a plan in place will move them closer to obesity.

Teaching Management: This is not a job for teachers. It's our job as parents. You can practice as you teach to reduce the level of your own. There are many methods and some work better for children than others. Practice deep breathing is probably the best and easiest, especially for young children. Older children may be able to use meditation succeed.

This is a serious problem that needs serious attention. Knowing that the children feel and react similarly to adults can help us keep them at a healthy weight.
